Head Chef at Cavita Restaurant (Marylebone, London)
The reality of kitchen photo shoots—or at least the ones I’ve done—usually means adding another task to your daily kitchen routine; not exactly a hassle, but one more box to tick… Or maybe it’s just me putting pressure on myself to make sure everything turns out perfect. Having an alien invade your planet for a few hours. With James, none of that was the case. He wasn’t an alien; he was just another inhabitant of Planet “Cavita.” His relaxed vibe put us at ease, and his passion for photography got us excited. Honestly, there were moments when we even forgot he was there, capturing everything with his alien eye.
From the “Cavita” family: GRACIAS!

Head Chef at Jang Restaurant (The Royal Exchange, London)
It was really great to meet James recently when we welcomed him to Jang to shoot a few of our new dishes. He took a genuine interest in our restaurant's approach and what we were putting on each plate, and brought such a relaxed and easygoing vibe which made the whole team feel comfortable from start to finish and let us work at our own pace. The final images were turned around really quickly and naturally captured our signature food style. It was a pleasure having James with us, and we really appreciated his relaxed approach throughout the shoot.

James was honestly such a pleasure to work with! He was super professional, but at the same time so friendly and easy to work with, which made the whole shoot feel really comfortable and natural. James has such a good eye for detail and captured everything beautifully, especially the food. I absolutely loved how everything turned out and would 100% recommend him. Hopefully we get to work together again soon!

Food Consultant & Former Executive Head Chef at Quaglino’s Restaurant (Mayfair, London)
I had the pleasure of working with James during my time as Executive Head Chef at Quaglino’s, and I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
From the outset, he was incredibly professional and brought a fantastic level of creativity and vision to the shoot. What particularly impressed me was his ability to listen to my ideas and feedback while still bringing his own distinctive style and creative identity to the finished work.
Photographing food is about far more than simply capturing a beautiful plate — it’s about understanding the chef’s vision, the detail behind each dish and the story you’re trying to tell. He understood that completely. He had a brilliant eye for composition, lighting and detail, and consistently found ways to bring the food to life through his photography.
He was collaborative, patient and receptive throughout the process, while also having the confidence and creativity to offer his own ideas and perspective. The end results were outstanding and captured both the quality of the food and the character of Quaglino’s beautifully.
A genuinely talented and creative photographer, a true professional, and an absolute pleasure to work with. I would happily recommend him to any chef, restaurant or hospitality business looking for exceptional photography.
